I'm a freelance writer focusing on socio-environmental issues and sustainable travel.

I've written on issues from indigenous land rights and the trafficking of endangered species to helping children cultivate a lifelong love of nature.

My travel writing includes creative narratives such as an essay about the disparity between my vision of Assateague, island of wild horses, and the reality I found on arrival (winner of Ocean magazine's spring 2010 writing contest). My travel essays and other narrative pieces often explore the relationship between human cultures and their environments.

I also write on ways of living more sustainably, and making a business more sustainable. I believe that business owners committed to sustainability have the opportunity to become leaders in their field as society awakens to the need for socially and environmentally friendly practices.

Other topics I've explored in my articles and essays include the power of storytelling, living in intentional communities, and artwork with a sustainable theme. I have a master of arts degree in English and a bachelor's degree in creative writing.
